Some of the Best You Pick Strawberries Farms Are in the South

Have you ever gone strawberry picking at a "u-pick strawberries" berry farm? I actually worked at a farm stand for berry picking in college, but it was at a blueberry farm instead. I've also picked my own strawberries, and one of the best places to do it is at one of these family farms during strawberry season.

It's actually a great social distancing activity because when you're out in the strawberry fields, you can be as far away from other people as you want to be. It's just you, the berry patch, fresh strawberries, some sunscreen, and your own containers. Let's get picking!

Where Can You Go Strawberry Picking?

If you want to go pick berries down South but down own your own farm, you're in luck, because there are some great local farms to visit during the "u-pick season." If you'd rather head to a farmer's market and see pre-picked berries, that's fine too, but heading to a strawberry farm and getting fresh produce yourself is half the fun.

Best U-Pick Strawberry Farms

365 Atlanta Traveler says Southern Belle Farm in McDonough, Georgia, and Burt's Farm in Dawsonville will both let you pick strawberries. Plus, Burt's also has a pumpkin patch in addition to family fun activities like wagon rides.

Washington Farms in Bogart, Georgia also has a strawberry patch for fresh fruit to grab, and they also offer strawberry ice cream!

Blessington Farms in Texas apparently has pick-your-own strawberries and u-pick blueberries, according to Bob Vila.com. Great Country Farms in Virginia has strawberries and raspberries as well as veggies like tomatoes, the outlet notes.

Finally, North Carolina also has a few places where you can pick up strawberries or pick them yourself. Page Farm in Raleigh has lots of animals to visit with as well as berries to pluck, plus hayrides if the kids want another activity. Ingram's Farm in High Point lets you pick the berries or go to their kitchen for some treats like strawberry shortcake and other cakes and pies.

Many of these u-pick farms accept credit cards and provide daily updates on social media if you're looking for more information. Strawberry picking and strawberry festivals are safe and enjoyable activities for the whole family.

What are you waiting for? Get picking!
