We Compared Whataburger's New Peach Milkshake to Chick-fil-A's and The Winner is Super Peachy

As temperatures climb, we gravitate toward cool, refreshing drinks to unwind with and combat the heat of summer. Whether your go-to is a 7-11 Slurpee, a cold beer or a cool glass of iced tea, you're familiar with the relief of sipping on a refreshing beverage in the summer. Whataburger has always had a number of tasty shakes to indulge with on a summer day, and they just came out with a delicious new peach milkshake flavor.

The Origin of Whataburger

This fast food restaurant is known for its juicy burgers, sweet shakes and indulgent sides. From the taquito with cheese to the French fries to the chicken sandwich, Whataburger brings its fast food Texan deliciousness to burger lovers throughout the country.

This beloved fast food chain was founded by Harmon Dobson back in 1950, and it began as a small food cart. His plan was to create a burger so large that customers needed both hands to hold it, and so delicious that one bite evoked "What a burger!"

Dobson called his food cart "Whataburger," placing it on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. His giant burgers were an instant success, and Harmon began expanding the food cart. By the end of the 50's, Harmon opened the first Whataburger restaurant outside of Texas, in Pensacola, Florida. Now, there are over 800 restaurants and 43,000 employees, called Family Members by the San Antonio-based chain.

Whataburger Favorites

Whataburger locations became exclusively drive-thrus during the Coronavirus pandemic, but locations across the country are now open for dine-in as well. Some of the most popular menu items are the honey BBQ chicken strip sandwich, onion rings, the classic Whataburger, and of course the shakes!

This burger chain also has a loyal fan base regarding their condiments, like jalapeno ranch, honey BBQ sauce, and spicy ketchup. One can buy their spicy salsa verde and picante sauce at retailers like H-E-B, Walmart, and online at Amazon for the perfect topping to tacos, sandwiches and eggs.

A Taste of Summer with Whataburger's New Peach Milkshake

Whataburger recently announced that they'll be bringing back the pico de gallo burger for a limited time, along with a pico de gallo chicken sandwich. The burger will have two beef patties, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo and cilantro lime sauce. The sandwich will have the same toppings, and patrons can choose grilled chicken or a Whatachick'n filet.

Most importantly, Whataburger is adding a peach and cream shake to their shake menu! This limited-time shake offer combines the peach with vanilla to make a sweet, summery delight. In a press release, Whataburger described the new menu item as "a blended flavor of peach and vanilla with just the right level of sweetness."

Chick-fil-A fans are already well acquainted with the Chick-fil-A peach milkshake, which features ice cream, peaches, whipped cream and a cherry on top. If Whataburger's other shakes are any indication, it's safe to bet that Whataburger's peach milkshake will give Chick-fil-A's a run for its money. No matter which you prefer, it doesn't get better than a peach-flavored shake in the summer!
