Updated on January 25, 2018: The votes are in! Krispy Kreme announced that, after millions of online votes, the newest flavor is Lemon. The new Glazed Doughnut flavor will be available for a week at participating Krispy Kreme locations this spring.
Published on January 16, 2018: A good donut can solve just about any problem for at least 7 minutes of pure bliss, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts knows that the way to keep customers coming back is to give them a say in the flavors. Krispy Kreme has been experimenting with funky and fresh donut flavors since St. Patrick's Day in 2017. They covered the newsworthy total solar eclipse with a fresh batch of chocolate doughnuts, and they brought us the fan favorite Gingerbread Glazed Donut this holiday season. Now, the beloved donut chain is tired of making all the decisions, and they want your help.
From January 16 through January 22, customers can vote for the newest limited-edition glazed doughnut flavor. The options in the Vote for Glaze content are: blueberry, caramel, lemon, and maple. The winning flavor will appear in stores this spring for one week. Users can vote once per day, so if there's a particular flavor you must try, then set a reminder to cast your vote.
In a press release about the contest, Chief Marketing Officer Jackie Woodward stated,
"To begin this year, we're tapping that enthusiasm and mobilizing that engagement to make our fans full-fledged innovation partners. It's an unprecedented step for Krispy Kreme as a brand and enhances what is already an awesome doughnut experience for our customers."
