Duck Dynasty's Uncle Si Shows How to Make the Perfect Iced Tea

Even if you aren't a duck hunter, you can't help but be infatuated with the Duck Dynasty clan, especially Uncle Si Robertson, who is the younger brother of Phil Robertson. Known for his jokes, wild antics, and love for tea (not sweet tea!), the Vietnam Vet became an instant star on the reality show that followed the Robertson family and their Duck calls business. And while Duck Dynasty might not be making new episodes, it doesn't stop Uncle Si from making his famous iced tea.

Uncle Si's Iced Tea is Un-Sweet and Perfect for Sipping

Miss Kay might be known for her baked goods, but when it comes to tea, this Duck Dynasty star knows the secret tea recipe.

"You can pick up a newspaper and you can actually read the newspaper through the tea, it means its too weak." Uncle Si shares, noting he likes his tea "stout".

How To Make Uncle Si's Iced Tea

Placing 4-5 family-size tea bags in a bowl, Uncle Si sticks the bowl in the microwave instead of boiling the mixture in a pot on the stove. Six minutes is all you need for this tea to be ready. Meanwhile, fill a gallon jug about 3/4ths of the way full with water.

Once the microwave beeps, remove it and let it steep on the counter until it cools about 30-45 minutes. You can also rush this process if you dip the tea bags in and out of the water. Pour the tea into the gallon jug and stir together. According to Si, he drinks over a gallon of the stuff a day out of his Tupperware cup!

In fact, you can buy a replica of his cup on Amazon.

Unsweet tea not your thing? Uncle Si, Duck Commander Family Foods, and Chinook USA used to produce ready-to-drink 16-ounce bottles of sweet tea based on his original recipe. Not surprisingly the product is no longer sold.
