The only way we are going to survive this is if we all pitch in together and help out our friends, family, and community. Restaurants are setting up special delivery options for seniors, restaurants are giving away free food to healthcare workers, and CEO and founder W. Kent Taylor is giving up his year base salary to help front-line workers struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Marketwatch, the CEO of Texas Roadhouse will forego his pay from March 18, 2020, to Jan. 7, 2021. The restaurant chain will also suspend its dividend according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. According to Louisville Business First, his base salary is $525,000.

A message on the Texas Roadhouse website shares,

Loyal Guests:

While we realize that many people are struggling right now, I want to take a moment to let you know what Texas Roadhouse is doing to help.

We are open for business and still serving America even though many of our dining rooms are temporarily closed.

As the President and other officials have stated, restaurants play a vital role in our nation's food supply, and we are going to help fill the gap where and how we can.

In the areas where our dining rooms are closed, we are ramping up our To-Go and Curbside services and we are also turning some of our parking lots into temporary drive-thrus to serve our regular menu. We are rolling out Family Value Packs as well, so stay tuned to your local Texas Roadhouse for more information.

The bottom line is these are challenging times, and we are all in this together. We will continue to do our best to adapt to your needs and help support every community we serve in a safe way. Thank you again for your loyalty to Texas Roadhouse.

We will never take your trust for granted and, remember, local communities across America will be stronger on the other side of this crisis.

Like many restaurants, the steakhouse chain participated in The Great American Take-Out on Tuesday, a campaign to support front-line hourly restaurant employees by ordering food to-go. Restaurants have had to shift to a to-go policy since the coronavirus outbreak hit the United States, making it hard for restaurants to stay afloat financially.

The first Texas Roadhouse was opened in on February 17, 1993, at the Green Tree Mall in Clarksville, Indiana
