Visit Texas and you'll more than likely eat three things: Whataburger, breakfast burritos, and Pit-Smoked Brisket. Now, one of these things is available nationwide at your local Subway. That's right, Subway is introducing a new Pit-Smoked Brisket sandwich, and it's the real deal.

For a limited time, now through November 7th at participating Subway restaurants, customers will get a chance to try out the new sandwich served on freshly baked Italian Bread, with smoked cheddar cheese, and a zesty barbecue sauce. And let's not forget the most important part of the Subway sandwich: the meat. This sandwich features brisket that's naturally smoked for at least 13 hours.
To be true to the pit-smoking process, Chief Brand and Innovation Officer at Subway, Len Van Popering shares, "We collaborated with some of the most talented pitmasters in the country to create a one-of-a-kind taste experience that features the unmistakable flavor that comes from using real smoke and freshly baked bread. It's a combination that simply can't be beat."

And that's not all. The brand took their sandwiches to Austin, Texas to see what guests thought of their sandwich before the launch. But here's the kicker. Subway opened up their own BBQ place for a day called Monty's Pit-Smoked Brisket. Over 100 guests visited Monty's Smokehouse and low-and-behold, many were shocked when they found out that they were eating Subway sandwiches.
So far the reviews are mixed. People are loving that the fast-food chain is serving up brisket, however, die-hard meat-eaters are questioning how authentic the new sandwich is. One Twitter user, @BBQBryan shares that the sandwich is "not that bad" and the meat is "likely from Sadler's Smokehouse who [supplies] Arby's and others."

The sandwich is available in 6-inch and 12-inch sizes. The price of the sandwich varies by region, but most sandwiches are available for $6.99 for the 6-inch and $10.99 for the 12-inch.
