This Isn’t Your Grandma’s Strawberry Fluff Salad

Recipes and dishes from the 1950s had these three things in common-- they were heavily processed, they were bright and loud, and above all, every salad recipe contained either Cool Whip or Jello. While there are many, many recipes that should stay tucked away in the past, this Strawberry Fluff salad isn't one of them. Creamy, sweet, and teeming with a tart kick that makes you want more, I'm bringing this 50's-style jello salad into the 21st century as one of the best no-bake desserts to bring to your next pool party or brunch.

Pink, fluffy, and sweet, here are three reasons why you should be making Jello fluff recipes.

  • They Take Less Than 15 Minutes to Prep

The prep time on this recipe is ridiculously quick! All you need to do is boil the water, gelatin mix, and pudding mix together then stick it in the fridge for a few hours.

  • You Can Change the Flavors

Originally I wanted to use strawberry jello mix and vanilla pudding for this recipe, however, when I went to my local grocery store every single box of vanilla pudding had been snatched up. It was pretty surreal to see.

So I switched vanilla for lemon and wowza, I am so glad I did; the lemon and strawberry pair so perfectly! Some combos that come to mind are Black Cherry + Cheesecake with chopped cherries, Strawberry Banana + Banana Creme with chopped bananas and strawberries, and Pineapple + Coconut with shredded coconut and crushed pineapple.

  • Your Mom Will Be So Proud of You

Chances are your mom or grandmother made Jell-O salads back in the day. Surprise them with a blast from the past when serving this side dish/fruit salad.

This easy recipe is super yummy and great for parties and get-togethers. Make sure to purchase Cook & Serve pudding instead of instant pudding otherwise you'll have quite the mess on your hands.

Start by whisking together the gelatin, pudding mix, and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and remove from the heat. Transfer the mixture into a large mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about 4 hours or until set. You can also refrigerate it overnight if you wish.

Once it is solid, grab your trusty handheld mixer and whip the mixture until it is broken up and creamy. Add in the whipped topping and whip until incorporated. Fold in the sliced strawberries and mini marshmallows and serve this beautiful dessert salad in dainty little glasses topped with a fresh strawberry.
