Starbucks is making the holidays a whole lot brighter this holiday season, giving away $1 million in gift cards during the month of December. As part of its recently-launched Project Give Good promotion, Starbucks baristas will be out and about attending holiday and community events like tree-lighting ceremonies, public concerts, caroling events and more. At those events, Starbucks will send its red-and-green apron-clad "Give Good" squads to these gatherings to deliver the surprise gifts of $20 gift cards all month long.
"The inspiration behind Project Give Good is simple, we want to brighten the holidays and delight our customers," said Kris Engskov, executive vice president of U.S. Retail for Starbucks in a press release. "We hope the gift of a Starbucks Card will give customers the opportunity to take a break or catch up with a loved one over coffee."
Baristas across the United States will give away 50,000 of these $20 gift cards from Dec. 11 to 23 — visit Starbucks.com/givegood or follow the hashtag #GiveGood to find locations and events near you for Starbucks customers.
"The holidays are here and good is in the air. We hope Project Give Good will continue all the good in our communities and keep it going and growing, because good is contagious and giving is too," Engskov said.
Also during December, anyone who makes a purchase at Starbucks using their mobile app or a registered Starbucks Card will earn Gold status in Starbucks Rewards for 2018 — not a bad way to ring in the New Year. Starbucks Gold members earn rewards by collecting Stars redeemable for free food and drinks.
It will get even better for a few lucky coffee lovers this Christmas with the chain's Starbucks For Life sweepstakes. Starbucks Rewards members have the chance to win a plethora of prizes — including free Starbucks for a Week, Starbucks for a Month, Starbucks for a Month and, yes, even Starbucks for Life — along with millions of Bonus Stars and instant-win food, beverage and merchandise prizes.
