Established in 1926, Best Maid Pickles got its start in a small rural Texas town called Mansfield. Jessie Otis Dalton and wife Mildred Dalton, owned a small grocery in Fort Worth, selling merchandise, and various pastries Mildred created in her home kitchen. After realizing she had an abundance of egg yolks, Mildred began making mayonnaise and as that gained popularity, she decided to make her own sandwich spread with pickle relish. Their pickle supplier wanted to raise their prices, so Mildred started canning her own pickles from her garden. The rest is fresh dill pickle history.

Like Best Maid Pickles, Martin House Brewing Company is based in Fort Worth and loves to share their love of craft beer with fellow Texans. Their brewery offers year-round favorites like the Salty Lady Gose, IPA Cellarman's Reserve, Bockslider Toadies, and the Martin House Pilsner. They also offer fun and creative micro-seasonals that have included Salsa Verde, a hatch chile and tomatillo ale, and Melted, a creamy strawberry and waffle cone ice cream ale.

Their latest beer is the Best Maid Sour Pickle Beer, which weighs in with a 5.5% ABV and is made tastes like sweet and salty pickle juice. The beer is created by mixing Best Maid Pickles' Dill Pickle Brine into the Salty Lady Sour Gose base during the brewing process and includes hints of toasted coriander, lemon zest and added sour.

But that's not all. Best Maid Pickles is adding to the party and has made up Salty Lady Beer Pickles to enjoy while sipping on your dill pickle sour beer. The sour beer pickles will be available on store shelves soon and the beer will be on tap starting Monday in the Martin House taproom at 220 S. Sylvania Ave. Both brands will be celebrating during a festive party noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 17. Tickets are $12 for beer drinkers, and that includes one Best Maid/MHBC pint glass and four pours.
