This Colorado-based burger chain's tagline is "Quality Service and a Better Burger," but there are some menu items to avoid if you value your health. Here are 7 items on the Smashburger menu to think twice about before ordering.

1. Smoked Bacon Brisket Burger

We know how delicious this item sounds. Few things are more decadent than a Certified Angus Beef burger with smoked cheddar cheese, brisket, applewood smoked bacon, pickles, and BBQ sauce on a toasted brioche bun. However, just one of these burger as 950 calories, half of your recommended calorie content for a day! If you get a double, the calories ring in at 1290. Not to mention, the 2260 mg of sodium aren't doing you any favors. To avoid sluggishness and a food coma, go for the Classic Smash Burger at 640 calories.

2. Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger

You may be attempting to choose a healthy-ish option when you choose one with truffle mushrooms. However, the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Burger is no healthier than any other options, and it actually has even more fat than many others because of the combination of truffle mayo, the patty, and the toasted bun. This entrée has 680 calories, which sounds way better than the Smoke Bacon Brisket Burger, but it's still not ideal if diet is important to you.

On their own, onions are a healthy veggie full of antioxidants and healthy compounds. However, when you fry them in tons of oil and add ranch dressing, the negative outweighs the positive. The Haystack Onions have 560 calories, which 1130 mg of sodium. Unless you're sharing with a few friends, stick to the healthier options like Smash Tots or Brussel Sprouts.

6. Oreo Milkshake

Smashburger does their milkshakes right, with their delectable ice cream, sauces, and add-ins. However, the Oreo Milkshake has 860 calories, which is almost half of the amount you should eat in a day. Not to mention, it has 285 mg of cholesterol, which increases your risk of heart disease. This milkshake is best to avoid, especially if you're eating it after enjoying a burger.

7. Peanut Butter Shake

This yummy shake is made with Häagen Dazs Ice Cream and REESE'S Peanut Butter Sauce, which truly sounds like heaven. However, one of the downsides of peanut butter is how high it is in calories. The shake also has 860 calories and 285 mg of cholesterol, which is hard to justify consuming in one dessert.
