Angry Orchard Debuts Rosé Hard Cider Just in Time for Spring

Spring is almost here and with it, a brand new spring-like drink from cider makers at New York's Angry Orchard. Their rosé hard cider is made from a unique, red flesh apple that is found in Brittany, France and gives the cider both a rosy hue and a bright apple flavor.

The apples are known as Amour Rouge, which means "red love." These apples are blended with six other apple varieties, plus other ingredients like hibiscus, and the result is an unconventional cider that both wine lovers and cider fans alike will appreciate.

"I love Rosé wine, but I'm excited for drinkers to move on over to cider and try something new this spring with our Angry Orchard Rosé," said Ryan Burk, head cider maker of Angry Orchard. "The rare red flesh apples used in our Rosé not only impart complex flavors but contribute to the cider's beautiful rosy hue. It's crisp, refreshing, and unlike any other style we have crafted."

The pink wine has become quite popular in the last few years and is a hallmark of warmer weather due to the fact that it's easy to drink by itself, but also complements different types of food.

Angry Orchard's Rosé Hard Cider is going for the same feel. Similar to a semi-dry wine with light tannins, it pairs perfectly with a variety of cuisines, from creamy cheeses, like gouda and feta, as well as hearty, flavorful meats, like ham and prosciutto.

And did you know the Kentucky Derby has an official hard cider? It does this year—Angry Orchard's Rosé Hard Cider will be featured as the Derby's (held on May 5) official cider.

The drink will be available nationwide in 6-packs for $8-10, depending on the local market. It will also be sold as part of 12-pack variety packs with other Angry Orchard styles. Angry Orchard has a cider finder to help you find the spring-like pink drink on sale near you.
