Learn How To Bake a Giant Skillet Cookie with Reese Witherspoon

Stars, they are really just like us! Because of the coronavirus pandemic quarantine, actors and actresses have taken to the internet to bring fans and viewers into their homes. Jimmy Fallon is hosting his show from his house, Lin-Manuel Miranda hosts concerts from his home office, and Reese Witherspoon is cooking up a storm in her Los Angeles kitchen. Recently, Reese Witherspoon and Sugar Rush star and Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson got together and made a delicious giant cookie skillet that you have to try for your self.

Produced in partnership with Hello Sunshine as a fundraiser for World Central Kitchen Inc., Reese and Candance make baking this cast iron skillet chocolate chip cookie incredibly easy. One of the best things about this cookie recipe is that it only uses one pan, which means that there are no dishes! Any recipe that doesn't use multiple large mixing bowls is a win in my book.

To start, melt butter in a large oven-safe skillet. Add brown sugar and white granulated sugar to the pan and whisk until combined. This is where it gets a little tricky. You need to add in the eggs, but adding them now would just scramble them into, well, sugary scrambled eggs. Candace suggests that you either wait ten minutes (taking the skillet off the heat) or placing the whole pan in the freezer for a few minutes.

Once the butter mixture has cooled, add in the eggs along with all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract. Stir the mixture until a cookie dough forms and add in chocolate chips.

Pop the skillet into the oven for about 20 minutes, then remove from the oven when golden brown and either eat warm with vanilla ice cream or let set and cut into wedges.
