Za'atar Grilled Chicken

This Za'atar Grilled Chicken brings a Middle Eastern flair to your next grill party. Serve this summer dinner with a fresh salad and pita bread.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup za'atar
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 1/2 lbs chicken thighs and drumsticks

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl or mason jar combine the olive oil, lemon juice, za'atar, garlic, salt and pepper.
  • Place the chicken in a large ziplock bag and cover with the marinade. Place in the fridge for 1 hour to marinade.
  • Preheat your grill to medium heat. Add chicken and grill, skin side first for 6 minutes. Flip and cook an additional 6 minutes. Continue to turn every six minutes until chicken is done (about 25 minutes total). Remove to a plate and let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Za'atar is a Middle Eastern spice you can buy here.
You can also make this marinade with chicken breasts. Adjust cooking time as necessary.
