INGREDIENTS
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped small
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
For The Waffles
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/3 cup oil
Instructions
For The Apples
In a saucepan over medium-heat combine the apple, brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally until the apples are tender, about 20 minutes.
For The Waffles
In a bowl combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. In a separate bowl combine the eggs, milk, and oil. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until moistened. Cook the waffles according to your waffle iron.
Top each waffle with the apple mixture and serve.
Notes
We like to use Braeburn apples for this recipe.
Keep the waffles warm by placing them in a 200ºF oven on a sheet pan.
