Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 25 minutes
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 chicken apple sausages
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 golden delicious apples, peeled and cut into quarters
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Salt and pepper, to taste
In a cast iron skillet over medium heat, add the oil and brown the sausage on all sides. Remove from pan. Add in the butter and onions and turn heat to medium-low and cook slowly until tender and golden, about 10 minutes. Add in the sliced apples and chicken broth and cook two minutes. Add the sausage and cover, cooking until apples are tender, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.
You can use any sausage you like, but we really love the bits of apple in the sausage.
This would be great served with mashed potatoes.
