These fun corn dogs have a secret ingredient: Root beer! Try these Root Beer Dogs today with a helping of french fries and ketchup.

Ingredients
- 1/2cup buttermilk
- 1/2cup root beer
- 1 egg
- 1cup flour
- 1/2cup cornmeal
- 1/4cup sugar
- 1Tbsp baking powder
- 1Tbsp baking soda
- 1tsp salt
- 8 hot dogs
- Oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a small bowl combine buttermilk, root beer, and egg. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir until just combined.
- Place hot dogs on sticks and dip into batter mixture.
- Meanwhile, heat a large pot with oil and heat to 375ºF. Add the hot dogs and fry until golden, about 5 minutes. Remove from oil and serve.
Recipe Notes
The root beer adds a great flavor, try it with your favorite brand.
To make dipping the hot dog in the batter easier, transfer the batter into a large drinking glass and dip the hot dog in.
