- 12 oz rye whiskey
- 4 oz rock candy
- 2 oz maraschino cherry juice
- 8 whole cloves
- 1 star anise
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 1 orange, sliced
- Maraschino cherries, for garnish
Stir together rye whiskey, rock candy, cherry juice, cloves, star anise, and cinnamon and pour into a glass jar. Top with a lid and let steep at room temperature for 5 days.
To serve pour the Rock and Rye into an iced glass. Add orange slices and cherries for garnish.
This recipe was originally a medicine in the early 20th century. While it might not have as many medicinal purposes today, it's still a fun drink to sip.
You can buy rock candy at a candy store or online. You can always substitute sugar cubes if needed.
