Redneck Margaritas

Traditional margaritas filled with tequila, triple sec, and fresh-squeezed lime juice is good and all, but man is it a hassle to get all the ingredients together especially when you are camping, enjoying game day, or spending the day on the river. Thankfully the redneck margarita recipe is just as tasty and is so much easier to put together. Keep the Cointreau orange liqueur in the liquor cabinet and grab a bottle of light beer and some limeade concentrate for this redneck cocktail recipe.

How to Make Redneck Margaritas

There are two distinct recipes for Redneck Margaritas, one that uses Mountain Dew soda and the other that utilizes limeade concentrate and usu ally Corona beer. I suppose you could always use margarita mix as well, but that's just the making of a plain ol' margarita. These are Redneck Margaritas we are making here! Are these the same drinks Carrie Underwood was referencing in her song, "Southbound"?

First, grab all your ingredients (tequila, frozen limeade, beer, and Sprite) and toss them into a large pitcher. Stir it up and pour the beer margaritas into glasses filled with ice. You can even salt the rim of a large rocks glass or margarita glass if you want to be fancy. I personally prefer salting the rim of a red solo cup whenever I make this drink recipe. Top with a lime wedge and drink to your content!

The other drink recipe is a bit more questionable. According to Red Lobster, a new Mountain Dew Margarita is hitting national menus at the end of 2020. There's been no announcement of what exactly is in the margarita, but I'm sure it is a mixture of Mountain Dew and tequila along with a sweetener or something along the lines of sweet and sour mix.

So which Redneck Margarita is the best to drink at home? It's completely up to you! Just be sure to be sitting in a lawn chair while you are enjoying it.
