This Nutella mug cake has only four ingredients and is ready in only five minutes, the ideal recipe to satisfy a spontaneous chocolate craving.

Nutella Mug Cake

Warm, melt-in-your-mouth hazelnut chocolate goodness is what you have in store if you make this easy dessert. Mug cake recipes are perfect if you don't want to make a whole dessert! All you have to do is combine the ingredients, pop a microwave-safe mug like a coffee mug in the microwave, and you have a delicious dessert without any of the prep that normally accompanies a mouthwatering sweet.

This is basically a chocolate mug cake with Nutella, the amazing chocolate hazelnut spread that we all love so much. One of the best parts is, it can be tweaked to satisfy your particular late night chocolate craving.

I find that Nutella and peanut butter are incredible together, so add a dollop of peanut butter if you like! If you want your mug cake to be more chocolatey, add a tablespoon of chocolate chips to the batter. For extra flavor, add a 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and as a fancy garnish you can use sprinkles, powdered sugar, hazelnuts, strawberries, or raspberries depending on you preferences!

Find a 12-oz or larger microwave-safe mug, and add in the milk, flour and baking powder. Whisk until smooth. Add in the Nutella and stir batter until fully blended, with no lumps.

Microwave on high for 60 seconds, then in 15 second increments, for 30 to 60 seconds more. Watch carefully for the cake to pull away from the sides of the mug, and the top to set. Once the top is dry and springs back when poked with a fork, your cake is ready.

Serve immediately. Garnish with whatever you like, or indulge with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
