For The Mozzarella Sticks

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 10 mozzarella sticks, cut in half
  • oil for deep frying

For The Sauce

  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • pinch crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

For The Mozzarella Sticks

  • In a small bowl place eggs with 2 Tablespoons of water. Mix to combine.
  • In a separate bowl place breadcrumbs. In a third bowl combine flour and cornstarch.
  • In a large dutch oven heat 2-inches of oil to about 350ºF. Meanwhile coat each mozzarella in the flour mixture, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs. Place in oil and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Drain on paper towels.

For the Sauce

  • In a small bowl combine marinara sauce with chili powder, paprika, cumin, and crushed red pepper. Place in microwave and cover, heating up the sauce, about 1 minute. Serve with the mozzarella sticks.

Notes

Eat these mozzarella sticks right away to ensure the cheese stays fully melted.
You do not have to heat up the marinara sauce but we highly recommend it!
