- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp rum extract
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 8 slices french bread
- 2 Tbsp butter
In a bowl whisk together the half-and-half, eggs, sugar, rum extract, vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger.
Preheat your griddle or skillet over medium heat and add butter. Dip each piece of bread into the mixture on both sides and add to skillet in a single layer. You may have to do this in batches. Cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Serve.
Serve this dish with maple syrup and butter.
This makes a beautiful Christmas morning dish.
