Orange Creamsicle Moonshine is a Dreamy Cocktail Treat

Even in the summer, there are cool, wet days that make you think you've traveled through a stone circle back to historic Scotland. The perfect way to combat the dreary weather is with this dreamy orange creamsicle moonshine drink recipe that you can bottle up and tuck away in your fridge for when you need to make your own bit of sunshine. You can infuse different kinds of moonshines at home (if you don't have moonshine, use pure grain alcohol as your base). Lemonade moonshine, watermelon moonshine, strawberry moonshine or even peach cobbler moonshine will make you think of summer. But this orange creamsicle moonshine really is summer in a mason jar. I may not be into canning, but I am into moonshine. Plus a five minute prep time I can handle.

This DIY dreamsicle moonshine recipe also makes for a great gift. It's one of those things that gets better the longer it sits, as long as you keep it cold. Grab a bottle of this adult beverage to bring as a hostess gift or to surprise a friend who needs cheering up. It's easy to make, though one of the ingredients may surprise you. Just follow the step-by-step instructions and you'll have a yummy alternative to standard apple pie moonshine.

This orange creamsicle moonshine recipe earns the creamy label with one simple ingredient: powdered french vanilla coffee creamer. If you used one cup liquid french vanilla coffee creamer instead, it will dilute the final product. It's worth it to use the better stuff, because the taste really comes through. All you have to do is dissolve the creamer into a big pot with 1 and 1/2 gallon orange juice and 2 1/2 cups sugar. Let it come to room temperature, then add in the moonshine or 4 cups Everclear, 1 tbsp vanilla extract and a cup vanilla vodka, and you've got a dreamsicle treat.

Divide the liquid between mason jars or other cool bottles and refrigerate. You want to let your orange creamsicle moonshine sit for at least two weeks (no matter how great the temptation is to drink it), shaking the jars every other day or so. Bring this jar of adult vitamin c to a bbq and be the most popular person in the backyard.

Dreamsicle Moonshine

This creamy dreamy orange moonshine is the perfect thing to have tucked away in your fridge to welcome warm summer days, or days you wish were sunnier.

  • 1 1/2 gallon orange juice
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup powdered French Vanilla coffee creamer ((Powdered allows the flavor to penetrate without diluting the drink. It's worth it to splurge on the nice stuff))
  • 1 tbs vanilla extract
  • 1 cup vanilla vodka
  • 4 cups Everclear or plain moonshine
  1. Bring orange juice and sugar to a boil. Stir in creamer until dissolved. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  2. Add vanilla extract, vodka, and moonshine. Stir, then jar and refrigerate. Let it sit for at least 2 weeks, shaking it every day or so. As with many things, the longer it sits, the better it gets.

If you've got an extra vanilla bean laying around, add the seeds to the boiling orange juice for a deeper vanilla flavor.
