INGREDIENTS
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp dark cocoa powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup coffee
- 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
- 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 Tbsp yellow mustard
Instructions
In a large saucepan add the canola oil and heat over medium. Add in the onion and garlic cloves and cook until softened.
Add in the chili powder, cinnamon, cocoa powder, paprika, tomato sauce, brown sugar, coffee, red tine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, molasses and yellow mustard. Bring to a simmer and cook until sauce is thickened, about 25 minutes.
Notes
This sauce can be refrigerated for up to two weeks.
Serve this sauce on pulled pork or brisket.
