Another special thing about this Candy Cane Pie recipe is that you can make it your own! Chocolate lovers find a way to add chocolate to everything, so one alteration would be to add chocolate chips or white chocolate chips on top alongside the crushed candy cane. You can also add marshmallows for extra sweetness! Another idea would be to experiment with food coloring; while this recipe has a lovely shade of pink, you can personalize it by choosing any color.

While this recipe doesn't include the directions for an Oreo cookie crust, they are incredibly easy to make and are used in lots of delicious recipes like cheesecakes and ice cream cake. You only need two ingredients- Oreo cookies and melted butter. Here's a recipe to try it out yourself!

Crushing the peppermint candy canes can be done a few different ways. The quickest and easiest option is using a food processor; simply place the candy canes in the food processor and pulse until they are suitably crushed. Alternatively, you can put them in a zip lock bag, and crush them with a hammer or mallet.

How to Make Candy Cane Pie

First, put the heavy cream into a large bowl and whip until it forms stiff peaks, and set aside. Put your Oreo crust into the pie plate as well, setting aside.

In another large bowl, cream the cream cheese and powdered sugar until fully combined. Add in vanilla and the red food coloring to the bowl and mix together.

Add in the peppermint candy bits. Then, combine ingredients by adding the cream cheese/powdered sugar mixture into the bowl with the heavy whipping cream. Mix together on low speed until fully mixed.

Pour the filling into the crust, then top with Cool Whip. Add a layer of crushed peppermint as a lovely and festive garnish! Refrigerate your Candy Cane Pie for at least 1 hour, and store in the fridge until ready to serve.

Enjoy this delicious Christmas recipe and happy holidays!
