Instructions
  1. In a large skillet melt butter. Add onions and peppers and cook on medium, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and soft, about 15 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan or dutch oven, add beer, crushed red pepper, salt and pepper. Add sausages and bring to a boil. Reduce to medium and simmer 10 minutes. Remove bratwurst and discard beer.
  3. Preheat your grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil. Add bratwurst and cook until slightly charred, about 4 minutes per side. Serve in buns topped with onion and pepper mixture.
Recipe Notes

We like to use pilsner-style beers for this recipe, but any type of beer would be delicious.

Serve these brats with a bit of stone-ground mustard for an added explosion of flavor.
