Taco Bell Fans Have a Meltdown as the Quesalupa is Taken Off the Menu Again

Everyone has that delicious, indulgent fast food item that we just can't live without. For many Taco Bell fans, that item is the Quesalupa, a delicious, cheesy quesadilla-esque meal. Unfortunately, this delectable comfort food is being taken off the menu this month, much to the despair of Taco Bell lovers everywhere.

The Quesalupa

Taco Bell's Quesalupa is a masterpiece of Tex Mex deliciousness, merging the quesadilla with the chalupa. This cult favorite menu item consists of a crispy chalupa shell, filled with shredded cheddar cheese, melted pepper jack and mozzarella cheese, seasoned beef, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sour cream.

There is also a vegetarian version, which includes black beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and reduced fat sour cream. You can also upgrade it with guacamole and jalapeño peppers for extra flavor.

This limited time delicacy was first featured on Taco Bell menus in Toledo, Ohio in 2015. The amazingly cheesy experience was a hit, and the following year it began to be sold across the nation. As the fast-food chain stated, "the hype was real." It costs $2.99 for one Quesalupa, or you can get a combo meal of a Quesalupa, two tacos and one large fountain drink.

The Disappearance of the Quesalupa

The fan favorite was taken off the menu, and then after five long years was brought back this year "more craveable than ever, with 50% more cheese inside its famous double-layered shell." It was first launched in Knoxville, Tennessee last fall, and then spread across the nation once again.

However, Taco Bell is doing the unthinkable and removing the cheesy comfort-food item again! A Taco Bell spokesperson said that "fans are encouraged to satisfy their Quesalupa craving before it leaves Taco Bell's menu later this month."

This is all fine and good, but based on the despair and outrage on the internet, it appears that many Taco Bell locations have already removed it from their menus. Although Taco Bell's nachos, crunchy tacos, and burritos are delicious in their own right, the Quesalupa holds a special place in many Taco Bell lovers' hearts, and we can only hope that Taco Bell will take mercy and eventually bring back this cheesy masterpiece.
