The Difference Between Quaker Oats Less Sugar Oatmeal and Regular Quaker Oatmeal

Smacked front and center on the Quaker's Apple Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal: Lower Sugar boasts "35 percent less sugar than our Regular Flavor". Great for people looking to reduce the sugar in their hot cereal. However, upon further inspection, it looks like each package contains 34 grams of the instant oatmeal whereas the normal instant oatmeal contains 43 grams. And here's the kicker: both oatmeals retail at the same price.

It's no surprise that people got upset at Quaker instant oatmeal for a hot minute. However, on a post on Reddit, one user commented that the Quaker lower sugar instant oatmeal does have half the amount of sugar, so you have to take that weight into account. Still, it is less oatmeal for your buck.

Is it worth it to buy the lower sugar oatmeal?

If you are looking for a quick way to get some healthy eating in, sure, but it's a heck of a lot easier (and healthier) if you make your heart-healthy rolled oats the old-fashioned way. In a pot, cooking until tender and adding in your own sweeteners and toppings like pecans, cinnamon, peanut butter, and apples. It's a surefire way to ensure you aren't loading your breakfast cereal with artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors.
