Halloween parties are fun for kids, of course, but if you're throwing a big neighborhood or family party, don't forget a treat for the adults. This pumpkin Irish coffee is perfect for a crisp fall night because it tastes like pumpkin and spice and everything nice, and it has a gentle buzz from the coffee and booze. It's also easy to make. You can impress all your friends by making Irish coffee and giving it a fun Halloween twist.
Start by brewing a pot of hot coffee. Your best bet here is a good medium or dark roast coffee, but go with what you like best. If you like flavored coffee, stick with vanilla or hazelnut so that it isn't overpowered by the other flavors in the drink. Pour the coffee in a mug, then add in the Irish whiskey, Irish cream liqueur, and pumpkin liqueur. Stir it all together with a cinnamon stick. If you're making these tasty drinks for a party, you can brew the coffee in advance and keep in an insulated carafe, but don't add the other ingredients until serving.
Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a bit of your own DIY pumpkin pie spice. You can make the whipped cream yourself by beating heavy whipping cream with a hand mixer in a large glass bowl until it changes the texture and gets light and fluffy. We've got a great recipe to make your own pumpkin spice, too, that blends ground nutmeg, cinnamon, ground cloves, ground allspice, and ground ginger. All these little touches are sure to make this homemade pumpkin Irish coffee your new favorite fall drink!
