Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Decide on Their Royal Wedding Cake

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced their engagement, speculation about the wedding and its decor has been popping up online. Recently, A source close to Prince Harry and fiancee Meghan Markle has leaked that the royal couple's wedding cake will be banana flavored, and we are going bananas over it.

The couple's love for banana first came into light when Meghan Markle posted an Instagram post of two cuddling bananas. This photo sparked followers to question if these bananas were a hint of her budding romance with the son of late princess Diana.

The couple's royal wedding will be more low-key than that of Prince William and Kate. They are planning to exchange their vows at St. George's chapel without the fanfare of a procession through London or a balcony kiss at Buckingham Palace. A traditional royal wedding this is not.

In fact, the royal couple has decided that the royal wedding cake will be banana-flavored rather than the dense alcohol-rich fruitcakes usually served at royal weddings. However, it seems as the potassium-rich fruit holds a large part in Prince Harry's life.

Traditionally the top tier of the cake is made out of a fruit cake which will last until the christening of the first child. However the royal couple have opted for spongecakes, a more American approach.

According to The Telegraph, Price Harry loves anything made with banana. Former royal chef Darren McGrady stated that both Harry and William "loved banana flan, anything with banana really, banana ice cream".  Should we start to see a trend of banana cake hitting more up-and-coming British weddings? We shall see.
