If you've never traveled to Pawhuska, Oklahoma, it should be high on your list of road trips to take across the country. The small Oklahoma town is where you'll find the lovely Mercantile, the Pioneer Woman's own store and restaurant. Known for its wacky and thoughtful items to buy and those luscious biscuits and gravy to eat, the Mercantile has caused quite a stir in Pawhuska. So much so that now the Drummonds are even opening up a beautiful hotel downtown. However, if you've never been to the Mercantile yourself, you can get a glimpse of it with this incredibly life-like version of it as a gingerbread house.
We've compiled some of our favorite grand gingerbread house ideas this year, but this one certainly takes the cake. The Pioneer Woman Mercantile posted this gorgeous Instagram photo of the gingerbread house that the Mercantile's own bakers created.
How beautiful is that?! While we aren't professional bakers and simply honest home cooks, you cannot deny just how incredible this is. From the sweet icicles on the awning to the realistic Christmas tree covered in snow, we can only imagine how full Ree's heart must be!
The Drummonds have made waves in the news recently after they were listed as the 23rd largest land owners in the country, but there's no denying that this ranch family never strays far from its roots. Here are three of the Pioneer Woman's recipes that'll be on our Christmas table this year.
1. Caramel Apple Sweet Rolls
Made for Ree's cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: A Year of Holidays, these Caramel Apple Sweet Rolls are the perfect Christmas morning treat. Instead of the traditional cranberry and orange sweet rolls, we're going for a rich and sweet bite that you can only get away with for breakfast on Christmas morning.
2. Christmas Tortilla Rollups
These jeweled beauties are studded with red and green bell peppers, and make for the perfect appetizer to bring along to that holiday party on your calendar. Simple to prep, with no baking required, that's what I call an easy homemade meal that everyone loves.
3. Easy Peppermint Fudge
When Ree says easy fudge, she means easy fudge. This is the recipe I'll be making for myself at home because sometimes, you just crave something richer than sugar cookies. This fudge is perfect for snacking on during a Christmas movie marathon.
