Pabst Blue Ribbon

PBR Released a New Hard Seltzer and It's One of the Hardest on the Market

There's a new product on the horizon for all you hard seltzer lovers. Pabst Blue Ribbon, the drink for urban hipsters and people who love cheap beer (me), is branching out into the hard seltzer market with their version of new lime-flavored Stronger Seltzer. By the looks of it, this new PBR hard seltzer is here to battle hard-hitters like White Claw with its high 8% ABV. It contains almost twice the amount of alcohol than most hard seltzers on the market (including Natural Light's new hard seltzer which rings in at 6 percent alcohol).

Meet The New PBR Hard Seltzer

Pabst Brewing has been working hard this year on shaking up the market. Earlier this year they launched PBR Hard Coffee, which contains 5% ABV and tastes like an adult Yoo-Hoo drink. The brand has also shared news about launching a PBR whiskey, as well as PBR Extra, which totes a larger alcohol content than the original. And for designated drivers and for party-goers who love the taste but not the buzz, the brand released Pabst Blue Ribbon Non-Alcoholic beer.

The brewing company has been busy this year looking to find its identity. "Stronger Seltzer explores new ground for the Blue Ribbon while upholding the boundary-pushing tradition that's been associated with us since the days of our founder Jacob Best," said John Newhouse, brand manager at Pabst Blue Ribbon. "Stronger Seltzer is a fun and innovative new drink that delivers big on taste, and gives our customers something different to enjoy." PBR isn't just cheap beer you can chug at the bar anymore.

Like the beer company's hard coffee, the new seltzer will only be available in test markets before being released nationwide. Starting on August 12, cans of Stronger Seltzer will be available in Arizona, California, Montana, and Texas.
