Paula Deen Makes Amazing Mac n Cheese On Her Quarantine Cooking Channel

We love Paula Deen for her warm, welcoming personality and Southern home cooking. From Southern fried chicken to cheeseburger casserole, she knows how to make it and adds her own Georgia twist. Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, Paula Deen has been bringing joy to those stuck at home with her YouTube Quarantine Cooking channel. One of her most delicious recipes on her channel is Paula Deen Mac n' Cheese!

Paula Deen's Creamy Mac n Cheese

Paula Deen owns a restaurant with her sons in Savannah, Georgia called the Lady & Sons, and her famous Mac and cheese is one of the classic dishes served! Her Mac n cheese recipe involves multiple cheeses, combining Muenster and sharp cheddar cheese. However, you can add "whatever makes you happy" as she says in her YouTube video.

Paula Deen also makes it clear that she's not a fan of "al dente" pasta, and that she prefers her elbow macaroni fully cooked. She makes her Mac n cheese nice and creamy with sour cream, milk, and evaporated milk, along with plenty of butter. You can use salted butter if that's what you have on hand, just skip the pinch of salt! Along with this, some recipes use cream cheese, whole milk, or half and half instead, but I trust Paula Deen when it comes to making yummy Southern food.

Along with using a range of ingredients, you can prepare your Mac n Cheese in a few different ways. She cooks it in a casserole dish in the oven, while others take the easy route with slow cooker or crockpot Mac n cheese. You can also use the classic stovetop method when making your macaroni and cheese, but I gotta say Paula Deen's looks too good to change up!

How to Make Paula Deen's Mac n Cheese

Bring a large pot of water to boil, and add in the macaroni according to the package's directions. When cooked, drain well and transfer pasta to a bowl. Grate your cheeses or cut into small chunks, and combine in a separate bowl.

Add in the butter, eggs, evaporated milk, cheese mixture, sour cream, and 2 cups of whole milk, stirring to combine. Add in salt to taste.

Spray your baking dish, put mac n cheese in, and bake in oven at 350 degrees F for about 40 minutes.

Halfway through cooking, stir and place back in oven. When your Mac n cheese is a few minutes from being finished, top it with a generous amount of extra cheese. Enjoy!
