Between Lubbock and Amarillo: 7 Ways to Break Up the Landscape on the I-27

The I-27 is one of the northernmost highways in Texas. Spanning the stretch between Lubbock and Amarillo, there are only a few towns in between to dot the north Texas plains. Some of the bigger towns you'll pass are  New Deal, Abernathy, Hale Center, Plainview, Kress, Tulia, Happy, and Canyon

In 2005, the I-27 was officially designated the Marshall Formby Memorial Highway after former attorney and Texas State Senator Marshall Formby.

Still, even though the road has a posh, alternative name, making it through the 124 miles of highway if you forget to pack a snack can be not so luxurious. So make sure that you know where you are going to stop when you're driving through the great open plains.

To give you a guide of where you can stop in these sparsely-populated north Texas towns, here are 7 of the best candidates.
