Been down to Houston and tried Kolache Factory? If not, you should definitely add it to your bucket list. Kolache Factory offers delicious kolaches including flavors like polish sausage, cheese kolaches, chicken enchilada, Italian chicken, jalapeño popper, beef sausage, and more. Luckily for us we've found out how their kolaches are made. These fast, pick up pastries are one of our favorite Texas breakfast items. Thanks to Click2Houston, we get an inside look at just how the Kolache Factory rolls are made.
Origins
The first ever Kolache Factory actually opened in Houston in the early 80s. There are now 30 locations across the US. All locations have over 25 flavors of their kolaches, but also offer cinnamon rolls, croissants, and more.
What Is a Kolache?
A kolache is a sweet pastry with a fruit or cream cheese filling. One of their most popular brunch ones also has eggs in it. Get the ranchero if you want to try it!

How Is a Kolache Made?
Click2Houston's Lauren Kelly stopped by their Katy location to give it a try for herself. Master baker, Hermann Gruebler, showed her exactly what it takes to whip up these Czech favorites.
Kelly starts with a sausage and cheddar cheese one. For that, they take a ball of dough and put cheese on top. Then they roll a piece of sausage into it and close up the ends with dough. And really that's it prior to baking it.
The next one she was supposed to make is a cherry filled one, but she never gets to it. We assume the method is the same, except that you just dig a hole at the top of the dough to pour the filling into.
