Reynold's Wrap

This Hack Makes Leak-proof Bread Bowls For Soup

The first time I tried soup in a bread bowl was in San Franciso when I was a child. I was always interested in food, so I made it my mission that trip to try the city's famous clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Although I wasn't the biggest fan of clam chowder (I was 10, can you blame me?), I was an immediate fan of using a bread bowl for soup.

It's the perfect eating vessel that keeps your soup warm and at the end, you can eat the bowl! The only thing that could make this crusty bowl better would be to turn it into a sandwich soup bowl so you could eat a sandwich with your favorite soup.

Reynold's Wrap

So that's what Reynold's Wrap did. These golden brown homemade bread bowls can be filled with anything from broccoli cheese soup to potato soup. And the best part is that the prep time is super minimal. All you need is some cheese, some small loaves of bread, and Reynold's Wrap.

How to Make a Quick Bread Bowl For Soup

Reynold's Wrap

  1. Start with a small, bread roll and slice in half horizontally. Cut out the middle section of the top half.
  2. Line the middle half of the bread with slices of Cheddar cheese.
  3. Place the top half of the bread back onto the bottom half and sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese on top. Wrap in Reynolds Wrap Heavy Duty Foil, place on a baking sheet, and bake for 6-8 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  4. Unwrap and fill with favorite tomato soup (or soup of your choice!)

The cheese on the outside is crispy while the cheese in the middle is gooey and soft.

What Are Some Other Recipes That Use Bread Bowls?

Almost every kind of comfort food soup recipe could be served in baked bread bowls. Heck, you could even put pasta in a bread bowl! You'll just have to try them all out to find out your favorite.
