[dropcap]M[/dropcap]y favorite quick dinner involves grilling up sausages and slapping a cast iron pan of onions and peppers on the grill, too. After this new recall, I'm checking the sausages at home, and you should too because the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Johnsonville, LLC is recalling about 109,603 pounds of smoked pork sausage products. The Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin business issued the recall after receiving three customer complaints of small pieces of hard, green plastic inside of the sausage product.
The fully cooked Johnsonville sausages were made on January, 4 2018. The following products are subject to the recall:
- 14-oz. plastic packages containing 6 pieces of "JALAPE?'O CHEDDAR Smoked Sausage" with Best By date 04/04/2018 and Batch ID 1001124486 or 1001124487
The items subject to the recall bear the establishment number "EST. 34224" in the USDA mark of inspection label. The products were shipped to retail locations nationwide, from Texas to Minnesota to Iowa to Ohio. These Johnsonville cheddar cheese and jalapeño sausages are not linked to adverse reactions, but instead are called for the potential contamination with extraneous materials.
If you have these easy grillers at home, you are urged not to consume them, per the FSIS press release, even though it is arguably the best flavor of sausages.
