Voluntary recalls occur more often than you might think in various regions of the country, but since 2018, we've seen an increasing number of nationwide recalls. It's time to check your freezers if you've recently purchased any ice cream treats because Fieldbrook Foods Corporation issued a voluntary recall of all orange cream bars and chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bars that were made in 2017 on the Hoyer 1 Line at the Dunkirk, NY plant of the company. This is the only line that's experienced potential contamination. The recalled orange cream bars, chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bars, and variety packs that include said chocolate coated vanilla ice creams were sold at the following locations under the brands listed.

Stores in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin have confirmed the product. However, the recall is not limited to those states and consumers across the country should check their freezers, per the FDA warning.
The recalled products, per the FDA release, have a production date of January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017 and a "Best By" date of January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018. The Hood and Kemps products may show a "Best By" date of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this problem, but exposure to Listeria can result in the Listeria infection that can cause symptoms in healthy individuals, like high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In pregnant woman, the infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths, while it can result in sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
