As if Twinkies Ice Cream and Chocolate Cake Twinkies weren't good enough, Hostess has gone and done it again with the new release of Peanut Butter Twinkies. Taking a cue from the beloved Reese's, peanut butter can only make a chocolate snack cake taste better.
The new flavor will feature a chocolate sponge cake with a creamy peanut butter filling. And when it comes to the filling, Hostess didn't skimp because they use real peanut butter. Now that's a reason to high-five Twinkies the Kid and lasso in a snack cake.
Originally, Twinkies had a banana cream filing and a shelf life of only a few days. Traditionally made with fresh ingredients, Twinkies eventually changed to a vanilla filling due to banana shortages during WWII.
And the fresh snack cakes? Let's just say distribution wouldn't span America if they didn't add preservatives. With growing popularity and all their new releases, it appears that Hostess' Twinkies have come a long way since their original golden sponge cake.
The new flavor will be available both in single-serving packages along with multi-pack boxes. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Twinkies have already hit store shelves, so head on down to your local grocery store and stock up. Maybe throw in a box of Twinkies Ice Cream and top it with the new flavor for an over-the-top Twinkie-rrific treat.
