[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ho doesn't love these little snack cakes? Hostess cupcakes are a guilty pleasure a lot of people share, with their delicious creme middle and frosting on the top of each cupcake. We wanted to take a look at some of our favorite Hostess flavors, in no particular order, both that are currently available according to the Hostess brand's website, and past versions of the little cakes with cream filling.
A classic! The chocolate cupcakes have chocolate icing with a cute white squiggle on top and the iconic marshmallow filling we all know and love. They have 29g total carbohydrates and 170 calories, if the health factors behind these cakes mean anything to you.
The birthday flavor features "vanilla cake, vanilla center, vanilla icing, and funfetti throughout," according to the Hostess website. It has a disclaimer like many of the other flavors warning that it contains milk, wheat, soy, and egg, so if any of those are allergens for you or your family, steer clear. (They also have bleached enriched wheat flour, making them, unfortunately, not gluten-free.)
This flavor has chocolate frosting, but it includes yellow cake instead. That little squiggle is still front and center, though!
These Hostess cupcakes are basically exactly what they sound like -- much like the other flavors, but orange-flavored instead. If you want that citrus taste and don't mind some weird ingredients like whey and xanthan gum along with it, try this one out.
5. Iced Lemon
Much like the orange flavor, this one looks as familiar as the others, with a distinct sickeningly sweet fruit flavor. Keep them at room temperature and don't let them overheat, because no one wants to eat a goopy, melted lemon cupcake.
6. Spring - Vanilla
The Hostess website reveals this purple frosted cupcake is only available from February 22 to April 6, so grab it when you can! If you just like plain old vanilla cake, this one is for you.
7. Summer - S'mores
Who doesn't love s'mores? This one is also available for a limited time, from April 7 to July 4. To us, they really do taste like toasted marshmallows and graham crackers, but you'll have to be the judge of that yourself.
oh those look kind of like my patriotic hostess cupcakes! pic.twitter.com/JAbLE3v76u

Honestly, the flavor of this one is not that different or special, but they sure look fun! As always, these cakes are sealed to retain freshness, so you can bring them along on your patriotic picnic this summer with no problem.
9. Red Velvet
This flavor doesn't seem to be currently available, which is too bad, because if you're a fan of red velvet, they fit the bill well!
This is another one that Hostess doesn't seem to currently have on offer, and we thought it was delicious! Maybe they'll bring it back?
If you're at all concerned with how healthy Hostess cupcakes are, this is probably not the article for you. But just so you're aware, these cakes contain ingredients like sugar, water, high fructose corn syrup, baking soda, modified cornstarch, cottonseed oil, egg whites, folic acid, niacin, riboflavin, mono and diglycerides, monocalcium phosphate, soybean oil, glycerin, thiamine mononitrate, wheat flour, titanium dioxide for color, soy lecithin, cellulose gum, and, somehow, chocolate liquor, among other ingredients you can check out here.
