Hard Mountain Dew is Now a Thing and We Can't Wait to Try It

Mountain Dew is the perfect soda for a refreshing beverage or as a mixer in a tasty mixed drink. However, what if you could combine these two purposes, enjoying Mountain Dew as a yummy, fizzy refresher and an alcoholic beverage? Hard Mountain Dew is now available in a number of states around the country, and Mountain Dew fans couldn't be more excited.

Yesterday, the Boston Beer Company announced the official launch of Hard Mtn Dew in a press release. This delicious trending drink comes in four flavors: Original Mountain Dew, Baja Blast, Black Cherry and Watermelon. This way, fans can try the new hard beverage in the classic Mountain Dew flavor, or switch it up with a fruitier variety.

What is Hard Mountain Dew?

For those who are still confused by this exciting new drink, Hard Mountain Dew is exactly what it sounds like- the alcoholic version of the classic soft drink we know and love. It contains no added sugar or caffeine and has 100 calories per serving. The drinks are 5% alcohol by volume (ABV).

The new drink is available in Florida, Tennessee and Iowa but it will continue to be launched in new states throughout 2022. It comes in 24-ounce single cans and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans, which are variety packs.

Although the idea of Hard Mountain Dew may sound revolutionary, it's actually a return to the brand's roots. When it was created, MTN DEW was meant to be a mixer for liquors. By creating a hard version of this popular soft drink, PepsiCo and The Boston Beer Company are simply taking it back to its original purpose.

Lesya Lysyj, CMO of The Boston Beer Company says "The Boston Beer Company and PepsiCo share a passion for pushing boundaries and delivering innovative new beverages that meet the evolving demands of U.S. drinkers. HARD MTN DEW delivers on the bold, citrus flavors of the soft drink fans know and love, now with an added bite of 5% ABV."

Boston Beer Co. also produces Truly Hard Seltzer, Twisted Tea Hard Iced Tea, and more. Although Boston Beer Co. developed Hard Mtn Dew, a new entity called Blue Cloud Distribution, Inc., which is owned by PepsiCo, will be in charge of sales, distribution and merchandising of the new product.
