Haagen-Dazs Releases Dairy-Free Ice Cream

For too long have vegans and the lactose intolerant looked on longingly as their friends gobbled down scoops of ice cream. But no more. In 2016, esteemed ice cream purveyor Ben & Jerry's introduced dairy-less doppelgängers of their favorite flavors, including Cherry Garcia and Chunky Monkey. Ben & Jerry's non-dairy ice cream is made with almond milk and certified vegan by Vegan Action. Unlike sorbets, Ben & Jerry's dairy-less ice cream mimics the creamy texture and rich flavors of the real deal.

Now, Haagen-Dazs is jumping on the non-dairy train. The beloved brand has just released a line of dairy-free ice cream in four different flavors. According to a Haagen-Dazs, the Non-Dairy Collection was "inspired by passionate fans", who filed a petition with Change requesting that Haagen-Dazs create dairy-free options.

To whip up its dairy-free varieties, Haagen-Dazs takes a different approach than Ben & Jerry's, So Good, and other competitors. Instead of relying on a nut milk base, Haagen-Dazs starts with ingredients like coconut cream, peanut butter, and Belgian chocolate.

Haagen-Dazs' four decadent dairy-free flavors include:

Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle

This mouthwatering dairy-less masterpiece blends real Belgian chocolate with salted fudge and fudge truffle. The irresistible combination of sweet and salty flavors means we could (and at some point probably will) gobble down a pint in one sitting.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge

Peanut butter and chocolate may just be the best flavor combination ever invented. Inspired by the time-honored pairing, this ice cream combines a peanut butter base with chocolate fudge.

Mocha Chocolate Cookie

Coffee flavor: you either love it or hate it. For you lactose-intolerant coffee lovers, Haagen-Dazs' Mocha Chocolate Cookie may be the answer to your prayers. The dairy-less ice cream infuses Belgian chocolate with coffee, then adds in a cookie crumble for good measure.

Coconut Caramel

Where other manufacturers use coconut milk, Haagen-Dazs bases this flavor off real coconut cream. The coconut caramel ribbons elevate the ice cream from yummy to miraculous.
