I look at my cleaning supplies collection as a form of mental healthcare. My mind is at ease when my home feels fresh and smells seasonal. Since my wife burns through candles like we live in a church, I had to start looking for new home scents that don't disappear so fast. Enter: the lasting fragrance of Glade PlugIns.
Glade Products are made by SC Johnson, a trusted source for clean freaks like me. When it comes to deodorizing my house after a pet's accident or just filling my space with pleasant smells, Glade is my go-to. I like to change up the fragrance bottle depending on the time of year. These are some of my favorite Glade fragrances for each season.
Glade PlugIn 101
Here's my only disclaimer: The first couple uses of a Glade PlugIn can be sort of strong, so make sure you have adequate ventilation around your house to keep the good smells flowing!
The steps to fill up a Glad Oil Warmer are easy to follow. Rotate the warmer's electrical plug, insert the essential oil bottle into the warmer, then set your Glade Oil Warmer in an upright position and "plug it in, plug it in."
How Many Glade PlugIns Should You Use
One per room is enough. Glade doesn't have a warmer to square foot recommendation, but many people agree that two in a small living, bedroom, or bathroom is way too strong (I agree).
You'll just have to trust that your guests can smell your Glade PlugIn! If you can smell it when you get home from work, it's strong enough.
Safety Tips From Glade
- Do not insert extension cords, multi-plug or three-prong adapters into extra outlet warmers.
- Do not use with extension cords.
- Keep away from furniture, fabrics, bedding and other materials that might present a fire hazard.
- Glade PlugIns Scented Oil warmer should always be inserted fully and properly into outlet.
- Do not use in small, confined pet areas without adequate ventilation.
- If warmer is removed from outlet, separate bottles from unit and store in an UPRIGHT position.
Sweet as a Summer Evening:
Get these new refills when summer starts, and your home will smell like that beach vacation you're hopefully planning. Make sure you keep the warmer upright when filling. Then, let the continuous fragrance of pineapple and tropic flowers fill your nose like an exotic seashore.
I Fall for It Every Autumn:
A lot of people would say Apple Cinnamon is a preferred fall smell, but I guess I'm pretty basic because I go for the Pumpkin Spice fragrance oil every time. When the weather gets a bit chilly, the scent of toasty pumpkin and cinnamon makes me feel like bundling up, baking pie, or both.
Warming In the Winter:
When I'm ready for the winter-time fragrance refill, Cashmere Woods is the only way to go. The sandalwood and jasmine are warming scents that fill a room with comfort. It's how I imagine the forest smelling after a great big snowstorm.
Fresh as Spring:
Wifey loves it when the living room smells like aloe. But for me, spring is all about that fresh linen scent. Glade PlugIns deliver by making the indoors smell like the crisp, clean air outside. There are slight whiffs of citrus and melon, too-- all the things that make me feel like summer is right around the corner.
Alright, so these car PlugIns aren't really a seasonal smell, but they're still one of my favorites. The oil adapters latch right into your car's air vents, and then the AC does the fragrant blowing. The new car smell is strong, so you may want to turn it down to a low setting. That's easy since the unit is highly adjustable. Take good scents with you wherever your roll.
Air Wick and Febreze can try, but there is no scent out there that matches the essential oil goodness of Glade PlugIns year-round. I search for my favorite scents on Glade.com and then find the best deals on refill packs from Amazon.
