The Girl Scouts of America are currently celebrating the 100th anniversary year of their beloved cookie sales, and in honor of that milestone, the Girl Scouts Hornets' Nest Council in North Carolina has launched its new Cookies for a Cause program.
Cookies for a Cause provides free cookies to military members (as the organization has done with its Cookies for Troops program), and has expanded to include hometown heroes like police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians, as well as nonprofit organizations from around North Carolina. In all, approximately 100 organizations were selected.
"For decades, Girl Scouts have been in our local communities not only selling cookies but building relationships with hometown heroes, nonprofits and others," said Angela Woods, CEO of the Hornets' Nest Council. "These girls are pillars of the community, and the Cookies for a Cause program is a testament to their passion for giving back."
