Just in time to test your New Year's resolutions, Girl Scout cookies are officially on sale from now until April. Going into their 101st year of selling cookies, the cookie program has decided to bring back one of it's classic cookies: the S'mores.
Along with your favorites such as Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos and Lemon Wedge cookies, the girl scout cookie program has decided to reintroduce a cookie based off of their s'mores recipe (introduced all the way back in 1925). The cookie, depending on where you live, is either filled or topped with chocolate. The reason is that two baking companies: Little Brownie Bakers LLC and ABC Bakers produce the cookies. Here in Texas, we get to enjoy the marshmallow-filled graham cracker cookies.
As a former Scout myself back when I grew up in San Diego, I can tell you how important cookie sales are to each troop. As a way to earn money for the troop, cookies sales aid in the funding of Girl Scout activities such as trips or saving up for summer camp. Plus it helps each Scout find the G.I.R.L (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ within themselves.
There's a few ways to buy your favorite cookies and support your local Girl Scout troop.
