Before you bought your first KitchenAid mixer or Lodge skillet, you become acquainted with an Easy-Bake Oven. It's a rite of passage. These mini baking "toys" have been around for decades, which means numerous generations have memories of creating delicious pastries and baked goods as children. Seriously, these things were revolutionary.
For those not familiar with this classic childhood item, the toy oven does actually bake tasty treats. Even though the Easy-Bake influences children for pretend play, it's still used by cooks around the world to bake their special mixes (and other items, too). Visit Walmart.com to see what shoppers are saying about these new editions of a classic toy we all remember.
Why Was the Easy-Bake Oven Discontinued?
You might remember hearing about the "death" of the iconic toy oven in 2007. The Easy-Bake light bulbs made the heating element dangerous for children. The newer Hasbro model features an oven that uses a non-bulb heating element.
The old design of these toy ovens finally got a makeover. The modern look is too cute! It still has the vintage oven toy look but looks updated. The oven comes with a baking pan, pan tool, and instructions. Unfortunately, the yummy mixes are sold separately.
