You can call me a millennial, you can call me a Californian, but avocado ice cream is seriously some good eats. While I would never put down classics like chocolate or vanilla ice cream, at times they tend to be overly sweet. And sometimes, I want this tasty frozen treat to be a little less sweet. If you too want to dial back the sweetness a notch, then you have got to try an avocado ice cream recipe.
While there are a ton of ways to make avocado ice cream, Jerry James Stone has it dialed in just right. His healthy recipe uses only three ingredients – ripe avocados, banana, and honey – without the help of an ice cream maker. And, it has just the right amount of sweetness.

It’s incredible how easy this recipe is. Simply take some whole Hass avocado meat and puree it in the food processor. Add a drizzle of honey for the perfect touch of sweetness and blend until that is incorporated. Toss in frozen bananas for a firmer texture and blend until smooth. Once everything is ready, toss it in the freezer and let it sit. Now get ready to scoop!
Now I know you’re probably thinking, where’s the heavy cream, where’s the condensed milk, how about adding a cup of sugar? You don’t need it. Keeping the ingredients pure and the sugar minimal really allows the avocado flavor to shine.
If you wanted to make it a bit more creamy though, you could whip some coconut milk in a mixing bowl and add it to the recipe. It’s a nice way to keep it vegetarian, vegan, and dairy-free for all those that can’t have lactose, plus the flavor compliments the avocado.
Either way, the no ice cream machine requirement is like music to the ears! Ice cream makers can be pricey not too mention finicky. And nobody likes waiting for the canister to freeze before they can even get started. I choose no-churn whenever I can. Well, unless it’s this recipe. I suppose you would need a cup of heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk to make it no-churn!
