Growing up my mother always had a bowl of candy on the coffee table for guests (and us kids) to nibble on while we socialized. Most of the time it was M&M's or Hershey miniatures. During a recent visit to my parent's house, I noticed their candy bowl was upgraded with a variety of Dove chocolates complete with kind sayings in the wrapper. Rich, creamy, and more refined than chocolate bars found at the grocery checkout, Dove chocolate deserves a place in everyone's candy bowl.
Are Dove Chocolate and Dove soap the same company?
While they may sound like they are produced by the same company, they are in fact, no way related! Dove soap is a personal care brand owned by Unilever and was first introduced in the 1950s while Dove chocolate is owned by Mars, Incorporated who owns Twix, Milky Way, and Skittles. Since both businesses provide totally different goods, both businesses are legally allowed to hold their names. It's like how Magnum ice cream has nothing to do with the condoms.
Is Dove chocolate good quality?
While its not in the same category of European chocolate bars, the Dove brand of chocolate seems less "chemically" than a Hershey's candy bar. Dove dark chocolate contains sugar, chocolate Dutch processed with alkali, cocoa butter, chocolate, milkfat, soy lecithin, artificial flavors, natural flavors, and milk.
Where to Find Dove Chocolate
Not only is Dove chocolate available in bars and promises, the brand also sells chocolate ice cream bars, ice cream minis, and pints. You can find Dove products in most grocery stores, convenience stores, and online!
While it was hard to choose which one was my favorite (they are all good!) I finally came to the conclusion about which Dove chocolate is my favorite.

Dove Promises milk chocolate candy is my least favorite of the bunch, mainly because its a milk chocolate bar. Disclaimer: I'm not the biggest fan of milk chocolate.

I like dark chocolate, but this dark chocolate is very very dark. So much so that it's not as enjoyable.

4. DOVE® PROMISES® Milk Chocolate & Peanut Butter
Okay, I know I said I wasn't a big fan of milk chocolate, but something is absolutely magical when it combines with peanut butter.

As stated before, chocolate and peanut butter are always a winner.

I would call this the most refined chocolate that Dove offers. Enjoy this Promise with a glass of red wine.

And the winner is dark chocolate and sea salt caramel! I could eat an entire bag of these things!
