Oh, don't tell me you've never used a photo editing app to whiten your smile at least once. (I know I have.) I've only been drinking coffee for a few years now, but I'm already noticing a difference in my teeth color. I swish with hydrogen peroxide at least once or twice a week, but I'd love a remedy with quicker results.

We all know a whitening solution would probably bring quicker results than DIY methods. So, do teeth whitening strips work? Let's find out.

Do Teeth Whitening Strips Work?

Crest Whitening Emulsions Leave-on Teeth Whitening Kit With Whitening Wand, 0.88 Oz (25 G), 0.88 ounces

Do Crest Whitestrips Work? When you think of at-home bleaching agents, Crest 3D Whitestrips probably come to mind. Check out these reviews.

I've asked close friends and family (and of course, the internet) if whitening strips work. I've seen raving reviews and some disappointments. However, my sister swears by Crest Emulsions whitening gel. She says she's seen an improvement in surface stains and didn't have any side effects.

Well, the kit is cheaper than veneers. This kit is normally about $80 but is on sale for $51 for Prime Day. I absolutely love my natural teeth, but there is a bit of discoloration that probably won't be fixed with this one teeth whitening kit. If I notice a big difference, I'd be happy to purchase a second kit.

You can always consider professional teeth whitening sessions. (I think I'll stick to at-home whitening agents before I schedule any appointments.)

The Pros:

  • Whiter teeth

The Cons:

  • Uneven whitening (in some cases)
  • Can be pricey
  • Tooth sensitivity

Using whitening strips isn't for everyone...

I get it. I've heard it all! "Oh, just brush your teeth with baking soda, you're going to ruin your tooth enamel."

DIY Teeth Whitening Options:

For home options, consider rinsing your mouth with diluted hydrogen peroxide for a whiter smile. Yep, home whitening doesn't have to be expensive if you stick to this method and oil pulling. I've heard that rinsing your mouth out with coconut oil is another home teeth whitening remedy that works. (Also, I'm not recommending you swap out your mouthwash for coconut oil, but it does have antimicrobial properties.)

Of course, you won't get the same results from a dentistry or professional whitening service.

Another affordable method you can consider if you don't want to break the bank or have tooth sensitivity is simply switching your toothpaste. Many American Dental Association (ADA) accepted toothpaste brands have whitening ingredients for a brighter smile. Visit your dentist's office before considering an at-home or over-the-counter whitening product. If you have sensitive teeth or poor oral health, you'll want to talk through the side effects with a professional.
