Each year, so much fanfare is made over Starbucks' holiday cup design, for better or for worse -- some people love them, some people hate them, some people find them offensive for one reason and some people find them offensive for the exact opposite reason. It can be hard to please everyone and Starbucks' universal and international appeal is what brings everyone to the brand time and time again, not to mention their specialty frappuccinos.
Well, ladies and gentleman, the holiday season is nearly upon us, and we may have our first look at this year's sure-to-somehow-be-divisive Starbucks holiday cups.
Reddit user DarthSnoopy posted the image of the possible new design to the /r/starbucks subreddit under the heading "Just got it in our order. Holiday short cup design!??" From what we can make out, there are plenty of red-and-white holiday staples -- presents, Christmas trees, doves, snowflakes, hearts and stars, surrounding the Starbucks' iconic green siren (did you know she was a siren?).
While the image isn't official in any way, there's a good chance these designs are legit. The timing is right, too, with holiday favorites like Eggnog and Gingerbread Lattes and Peppermint Mochas set to hit Starbucks menus Nov. 1.
Last year, Starbucks released its holiday cups on Nov. 10, in 13 different designs, so this Redditor's preview could be just a taste of what Starbucks has in store this holiday season -- and we're still waiting to see if this Zombie Frappuccino really is a thing.
