Coast to coast, queso lovers are finally able to satisfy their cravings at Chipotle. The fast casual chain is now serving all-natural, preservative-free queso in all of its restaurants nationwide. The warm, gooey, spicy, cheesy dip, which Chipotle tested to positive reviews in some 350 restaurants in California and Colorado, is available at restaurants across the U.S. as of September 12, the company announced.
Queso has been a long time coming to Chipotle's menus, and company execs finally listened to the masses -- and found a way to include the item into their vision for fresh and preservative-free food. As Steve Ells, founder, chairman and CEO at Chipotle stated in a news release:
"Although queso was the number one requested menu item, we never added it to our menu before now because we wouldn't use the industrial additives used in most quesos. Additives make typical queso very consistent and predictable, but are not at all in keeping with our food culture.
Our queso may vary slightly depending on the characteristics of the aged cheddar cheese used in each batch, but using only real ingredients is what makes our food so delicious."
So, how did Chipotle attain quintessential queso flavor beloved by so many? As the company says, it's all part of that aforementioned "food culture" that relies not on additives or preservatives but fresh, simple ingredients instead.
If you're not convinced, Chipotle's website even offers up a look at the ingredients in its spicy new arrival.
So what are you waiting for? Queso is now available at Chipotle stores nationwide. Prices vary slightly by city, but it should run you $1.25 to add to an entree, or $5.25 for a large side order.
People nationwide are already enjoying theirs!
